Runner Up: Narnia
Oh, and Happy 17th Birthday, Skandar! He seriously was born under the same sign as his character, lol.
My Personal Narnia Soundtrack (subject to revision). It lacks 40s music, whch will be remedied. Some of these are tongue in cheek, others I simply don't care what other people think of my musical preferences.
Best Obviously Narnia Song Not Actually On the Narnia Soundtrack: Viva La Vida” by Coldplay. Everyone in the fandom seems to agree that this song is perfect for Narnia, it’s being quoted in fics and everything (the title of the awesome P/C/E fic “My Mirror, My Sword, My Shield” comes from this song). It’s a wonderful example of the DIYness of fans and fandom, that they’ve just adopted this song as part of the unofficial soundtrack.
Second Best: Beneath a Phyrgian Sky by Loreanna McKennit (Yes, I am resisting the temptation to throw her entire catalogue in)
Peter:
Walk Through The Fire
Susan:
Nobody’s Home by Avril Lavigne
Edmund:
Dare You to Move by Switchfoot (IMO, even though Switchfoot has the song “This is Home” on the official Narnia soundtrack, I like this song better).
Lucy:
Wunderkind by Alanis Morrisette (no, I don't think including songs on the real soundtrack is cheating...exactly...anymore than using Top Forty songs is).
Edmund and Jadis:
She Fucking Hates Me by Puddle of Mud
Venus in Furs, by The Velvet Underground
Susan and Peter:
If You’re Gone by Matchbox 20
Against All Odds by Phil Collins
Edmund and Lucy:
Girl, You’ll Be a Woman Soon by Neil Diamond
Shut Your Eyes by Snow Patrol
Lucy and Mr. Tumnus:
I Will Remember You by Amy Grant
Aslan and Susan:
Cry Me a River/What Goes Around Comes Around by Justin Timberlake
Aslan and Edmund
To Bring You Back
Aslan and Narnia:
Bring Me to Life by Evanescence (SHUT UP!)
Aslan and Edmund: To Bring You Back by Paul Alan
Eustace and Jill:
World on Fire by Sarah McLachlan
Never Ending Road by Loreanna McKennit (this one makes me all sniffly, and I want a vid-either SC alone or, I dunno, maybe SC interspersed with The Shadowlands?)
Edmund and Caspian:
White Flag, by Dido
David and Jonathan, by Belle and Sebastian
Goodbye My Almost Lover by A Fine Frenzy
Come Sail Away by Styx
Caspian and Lucy :
Beyond the Sea by Bobby Darin
Rillian and The Lady (or, Jadis and AU Evil!Edmund):
Blackhole Sun by Soundgarden
Random Stuff:
In My Arms by Plumb
Caledonia by the Celtic Women (also makes me all weepy)
The Call by Regina Spektor
One Thing by Finger Eleven
The Rose by Bette Midler
