Ideas for AG dolls, some I think they should make, some I am putting together myself, and some just for the lulz.

A Pilgrim- the upside is that, somewhat surprisingly, AG has never had a New England based doll before and this is an important moment in US history. The downside is that her clothes and accessories would be rather dull. Mostly dark blues, browns, blacks and whites in cotton or wool. She celebrates few holidays and those, rather simply. She probably doesn’t have many toys. And the Pilgrims were a specific, documented group of families and individuals (there is a society made up of descendents and you have to prove a member of your family is on the list to join). So making a Pilgrim doll involves mining someone else’s-an actual living person’s, actual family history.

A White Southern Girl- because people have been saying “how come there’s no white girl from the South?” She could come from a variety of interesting eras and have some really pretty clothes. However, the obvious problem is obvious here- she has to be authentically a historical white Southern girl and yet sympathetic from the pov of girls all over the US. She needs to be an abolitionist/pro Civil Rights but not in a way that will offend pro Confederate or pro Segregationist girls. They’ve already done the Civil War with Addy, which may actually leave them open to putting Leanne Dupree (I don’t know…) in some less controversial period.

An Amish Girl- although you might run into the same problem as you would with the Pilgrim(clothing that doesn’t provide an opportunity for bright colors or luxurious fabrics, “boring” toys and furniture). Do the Amish buy AG?

Jacqueline: A French Canadian in…I dunno, what time period would be good? But she goes to a convent school. Coincidentally, my mother and I just watched “The Trouble With Angels” which has given me a model for her face in Hayley Mills, and an entire wardrobe of adorable early 60/late 50ss clothing ideas.

Accessories: Jacqueline’s school uniform collection (skirt and sweater, gym sweatsuit, etc). Rosary and chapel veil. Dorm issue bed and bedding. Little suitcases for her things when she visits home.

Food: A pretend meat pie, pretend Poutine, and pretend Quiche (“and pretend soup with a bug in it that she doesn’t have to eat” my mother would add*).

Books include:
Bienvenue, Jacqueline , her Meet story, in which she first arrives at the school and is homesick.

Joyeux Noel, Jacqueline accessories include an Epiphany set, a crèche with gilded and hand painted Three Kings figures.

Early 80s Persian girl and Cambodian best friend:

They live in Texas in 1984. They both love science, particularly astronomy and want to become astronauts. The best friend wears glasses and is in a wheelchair.

I have my heart set on using a #30 as the main heroine, although my sister says she’s too pale. Other options were Josephina, and Sonali, but I can’t use a pre established character to be an OC. It won’t work, I’ll always think of them as whoever they were originally.

Accessories: (already have some basic 80s outfits)
“Leaving Iran” outfit and accessories- headscarf and modest Islamic clothing, suitcases, passport, plane tickets, pictures of friends being left behind, etc. This will also be good for little Muslim girls their parentswho are religious enough to want the modest dress but not religious enough to have a problem with AG.

A “suzani” patterned bag or bedding set
Space Camp suit (I have this already)
Dallas Cowboys cheerleader outfit (modified for little girl, of course)
Cowboy boots and hat ( have these already)
Pretend Tex Mex food and “outdoor barbeque” set.
Tiny Koran
Ramadan set? What goes into one of those?
Cabbage Patch doll, Barbie and the Rockers Barbie doll, Punky Brewster backpack.
Bangle bracelets, scrunch down socks.
Haven’t settled on names yet, but I think her Meet book would have a title like ”____Unveiled”.
I meant for this to be serious, but I keep wanting to say the best friend’s book title would be “Your Entire Family Was Slaughtered by a Madman, Jenny Kim”

TO BE TAKEN LESS (OR NOT AT ALL) SERIOUSLY
Ashleigh
Ashleigh will be from Utah. Her family is big in the ballroom dancing circuit. Ashleigh is a junior competitor trying to live up to the family name.
Accessories would include:
Three or four ballroom dancing dresses, with appropriate shoes (waltz, latin, swing, pasa doble).
Dance rehearsal outfit (AG already makes one, but that’s never stopped them before)
A couple of medals/trophies from competitions
Travel bag to hold her dance stuff
Scrapbook and scrapbook making supplies
BYU sweatshirt and stuffed Liger.
Ashleigh’s “Family Night” set- consisting of a board game and maybe a nachos set, or some ice cream cones and a baseball setup?
Potential book ideas:
Oh My Heck, Ashleigh!
Ashleigh Speaks for the Dead
and

Ashleigh on a Mission
(where she angsts about the LDS only begrudgingly allowing women to do the mission trip).

Obnoxious American Girl Fan

Location: Anywhere in the world, apparently. Upper middle class white girl with manic, glassy eyed stare and fistfuls of cash (because fans will start complaining when her name is leaked, will also come in Angry Bisexual NeoPagan and Angry Bisexual NeoPagan Racial Minority flavors in several shades). Mattel will lose a swathe of customers for not including a doll with Strong Christian Values, Carefully Watched Over By Her Mother. All still have manic, glassy eyed stares and fistfuls of cash.

Accessories: Every single mini AG ever made, plus accessories and furniture. Computer. Pictures of other people's dolls in less than flattering poses/outfits, with "funny" macros added in LOLCat.

Hobbies: Spending hours online criticizing the way other people collect or play with their dolls. Also comes with a workbook entitled "The Smart Girl's Guide to Writing Angry Screeds, for Girl and Doll" to help her write long, nitpicky complaints about how Mattel "obvious didn't do their research on this one, they don't even really care, you know, they only want our money".

Books include:

Kelly Totally Scores At AGP, Kelly Flips Out Over Nothing and Kelly Becomes a Forum Moderator.

**the joke is that when my mother was in convent school, it was run by all these ancient Quebecois nuns. My mother’s at lunch, and she finds a bug in her soup. So she takes it back to the nun and points this out. The nun looks at her and goes “Well, you don’t have to eat de bug, do you?”

Adorable film! (I'm half-convinced Kate Winslet watched Hayley's performance for inspiration during HEAVENLY CREATURES.)

Love everything, particularly the names of the accompanying books! XD
