Ed facts
I could do this for other characters but I don't want to make it a Thing.
Things We Know About Edmund Pevensie.
B= book, M=movies
His name is not Edward.
It’s spelled with a U, not an O.
He is never, in either books or movies, referred to as “Eddie”. I’m not saying you can’t use it, just that it’s not canon.
His haircolor is not mentioned in the books, but the illustrations in the ones I have often show him as blond (except when they don’t) and H&HB describes the Narnians, with the exception of Susan, as being mostly fair haired. He is a blond in the BBC movies, but dark haired in the Disney/Walden Media versions.
Both actors who played him have/had pale skin and quite a lot of freckles though (the previous actor was Jonathan Scott).
There is a year between him and Lucy (B)
He is generally assumed to be ten in the first book, however, the D/WM movies aged everyone up slightly, and in all the film adaptations from any production company, he is played by boys who are older than ten (Skandar Keynes grew six inches during the filming of LWW and his voice broke).
He “started to go wrong” his first year of boarding school at "that horrid school". (B)
His birthday was less than a week before Caspian called them to Narnia at the beginning of PC. One of his presents was a flashlight, which he leaves in Narnia by accident (B&M). This doesn’t really give us much of a clue of his birth sign, because we don’t know what term they were heading back to school *for*.
But Edmund is such a Virgo.
When they arrive in Narnia at the start of PC, he is the only one wearing a hat. They use his hat to carry fish, which he is miffed about (B&M for the hat, B for the carrying fish in it).
He hates having his sleep disturbed (B).
He is not a very good swimmer, but improves between PC and Dawn Treader (B).
He enjoys rock climbing and reads detective stories (B).
He is “the sort of person who knows about trains.” (B)
He once owned a solid gold chess set (M, although the chess set is mentioned in PC the book it is not identified as his specifically).
He accompanies Susan to Calormen in H&HB, and he and Mr. Tumnus are the ones who come up with the clever scheme to sneak out by boat. (B)
In Narnia, he had a friend/closer courtier named Peridan who we know nothing else about.(B)
Edmund injured his knee playing rugby the day he and Peter were to meet Eustace and Jill at the train station.(B)
He was no longer in school at that point, so he was probably 18/19ish. (B)
Mode of Death: Run over by a British Railways train. (B)
Grownup!Edmund is described as "a graver and quieter man than Peter and great in council and judgment". (B but GoldenAge!actor in M seems to be going for quiet and serious).
When Jadis asks him what he'd like to eat, he picks candy. But not just candy, the most expensive and decadent candy he can think of.
Aslan gives his own life to save Edmund from Jadis, and later, Edmund tells Eustace "Aslan saved me*".
Edmund broke the White Witch's power by smashing her wand with his sword. She stabbed him and he nearly died, saved by Lucy's cordial(B&M).
He is the one who comes up behind the wall of ice containing Jadis and stabs her image, breaking her spell over Peter and Caspian. (M)
He delivers Peter's challenge to Miraz (B&M-although I was surprised to realize the book doesn't have the whole snark exchange)and a Telmarine officer describes him as having "death on his face".
He believes Lucy when she claims to have seen Aslan on the path at the start of PC (B&M).
He is King Edmund the Just, Duke of Lantern Waste and Count of the Western March, Knight of the Noble Order of the Table (B&M).
He didn't get a Christmas gift.
